Departing / Separating Wesleyan Staff employee transition from IT services

This article is for Wesleyan staff employees departing or separating from Wesleyan employment who need to transition away from using Wesleyan's online communication and productivity applications.

A departing/separating staff's Wesleyan account is disabled after their last day of work. It is expected that staff employees (and their managers) coordinate their email and individual data storage transition prior to their last day of work. In extenuating circumstances, managers may request an extension for their employee's account access.

The information below outlines common actions taken by previous employees. While exporting Wesleyan data to personal storage is permitted, please take note of our data confidentiality and sharing policies.

Exchange Online (Outlook)

Your Exchange mailbox is kept functioning for a minimum of 30 days after your last day of work. After 30 days, mailbox data may be deleted and therefore inaccessible.

OneDrive

OneDrive files aren’t deleted after an employee’s Microsoft license is removed. However, colleagues may not be able to re-distribute any shared files/folders to other colleagues. Ask your colleagues to download shared folder contents and transfer them to a new folder within their OneDrive or SharePoint site.
