The eduroam Wi-Fi network is the primary Wi-Fi network at Wesleyan. Additionally, eduroam provides simple, easy, secure connectivity from thousands of hotspots at many participating institutions around the world. The following instructions will help you get connected to eduroam on your Microsoft Windows, Apple MacOS, Apple iOS, Android, Linux, and Chromebook devices. If you are having difficulty, the eduroam Configuration Assistant Tool (CAT) and geteduroam tools are also available.
*It is important to note that your eduroam username is your full Wesleyan email address. Please be sure to type your full username@wesleyan.edu.
1) On Windows, go to the action center on your taskbar (on the lower right cornet) and click the Wi-Fi icon. Ensure that Wi-Fi is turned on for your device (the Wi-Fi icon should be blue). Click on the > icon to access the list of wireless networks.
2) You will see the list of available Wi-Fi networks. Click eduroam from the list of available networks, then click Connect.
3) You will be prompted to enter your credentials for eduroam. Use the following credentials:
After you enter your credentials, click OK
4) Your Windows device will be connected to eduroam.
If you are having difficulty connecting your Windows computer to eduroam, you can run the eduroam CAT tool.
BEFORE YOU BEGIN: The window of time for you to authenticate with eduroam on Mac is very short, approximately 25 seconds. After those 25 seconds, the authentication times out and you will get an error stating you are not able to connect to eduroam (see below).
1) Click on the Airport (Wi-Fi) icon on your Menu Bar to view the list of available networks. Click eduroam from the list of available networks.
2) Your device will prompt you to select certificate and for your credentials for eduroam. Leave the certificate setting to No Certificate Selected. Use the following credentials:
After you enter your credentials, click OK.
3) You will be prompted to install a certificate. Click Continue.
4) You may receive prompt asking you to enter your computer's administrator username and password. Enter the same username and password you use to login to the computer and then click Update Settings.
5) Your Mac will be connected to eduroam (the wifi icon to the left of eduroam will be blue).
If you are having difficulty connecting your Mac computer to eduroam, you can run the eduroam CAT tool.
1) Go to Settings > Wi-Fi
2) You will see a list of available Wi-Fi networks. Tap eduroam
3) You will be prompted to enter your credentials for eduroam. Use the following credentials:
After you enter your credentials, tap Join.
4) You will be prompted to install a certificate on your device. Tap Trust.
5) Your iOS device will be connected to eduroam.
If you are having difficulty connecting your iOS device to eduroam, you can utilize the geteduroam app.
The steps to access your phone's Wi-Fi settings and the configuration steps may vary between Android devices (ex: manufacturer, OS version, etc.). However, the process should generally be the same.
1) Open your phone’s settings.
2) You'll need to access your device's Wi-Fi settings. On most Android devices, it should be Network & Internet > Internet > Wi-Fi.
3) You will see a list of available Wi-Fi networks. Choose eduroam from the list of available wireless networks
4) You will need to manually configure some settings. Depending on which Android device you're using, the order and wording of these settings may be different.
In the below example, eduroam is being set up on a Samsung Galaxy device running Android 13.
Once your settings are configured, tap Connect.
5) Your Android device will be connected to eduroam.
If you are having difficulty connecting your Android device to eduroam, you utilize the geteduroam app.
Like Android devices (above), Linux devices must be manually configured to connect to eduroam. The below example, the user is connecting to eduroam on an Ubuntu device.
1) Go to your Wi-Fi settings (typically found on your device's settings menu)
2) Select eduroam from the list of available wireless networks.
3) You'll need to configure the wireless connection. Enter the following information:
4) Your Linux device will be connected to eduroam.
If you are having difficulty, the eduroam Configuration Assistant Tool (CAT) is available for Linux devices.
Chromebooks must be manually configured to connect to eduroam.
1) Access your device's Wi-Fi settings.
2) On the list of available networks, select eduroam.
3) In the eduroam window, click on the Configure button and enter the following settings:
4) Your ChromeOS device will be connected to eduroam.
